Costco.com Price Adjustment: How to Claim It Online
By Ankur Khurana, founder of ShelfVerse 路 Last updated November 4, 2026
Quick answer. If a Costco.com item drops in price within 30 days of your purchase, use the "Request a price match" button on the Costco.com page and fill in the form (order number and item number). Costco says approved credits typically arrive in 5 to 10 business days on your original payment method. Online orders are compared only against Costco.com prices, not warehouse prices.
ShelfVerse is an independent Costco companion app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Costco Wholesale. This guide summarizes Costco's published rules and, where marked, widely reported but unofficial shopper experience. Costco can change its policy or decline a request at its discretion; check with Costco before you rely on it.
Warehouse price adjustments get most of the attention, but if you order from Costco.com the same 30-day idea applies, with a different process. This guide covers exactly what Costco publishes about it, what it doesn't say, and how to avoid the mistakes that get requests declined.
The rule in one paragraph
Costco.com states that for non-reseller purchases, an item that drops in price within 30 days of the purchase date is eligible for a price match. For items with specific sale dates, such as holiday savings promotions, the request has to fall within both the active promotional dates and 30 days of purchase, and requests made after the promotion ends may be denied. Promotional items with a purchase limit are eligible only up to that limit. Costco can deny any request at its sole discretion.
Step by step: request it online
Confirm the drop. Open the product page on Costco.com while signed in and check that the current price is lower than what you paid. Make sure the item is available at that price.
Check your order. In your order history, look at what you were actually charged. Costco recommends checking whether a promotional price was already applied to your order; if you already got the sale price, there is no difference to claim.
Find your numbers. You'll need the order number and the item number.
Wait for approval and credit. Costco says that once approved, credits are typically issued within 5 to 10 business days to the original form of payment. Keep your order confirmation until the credit posts.
If the form doesn't work for your order, Costco's customer service is the fallback. We could not verify a specific chat or phone script, so rather than guess, use the contact options on Costco's customer service site.

Costco explicitly says it does not match warehouse prices for Costco.com purchases. Its stated reason is that online prices include shipping and handling. So a $20 item you bought online that is $5 cheaper at the warehouse will not be adjusted. Likewise, a warehouse buyer can't use the website to claim a drop. Note that the warehouse desk's name varies: Costco's own page says "returns counter" while many members say Member Services. Ask at whichever service desk the warehouse uses.
Ask early. Costco counts 30 days from the purchase date. To be safe, count from the day you placed the order rather than the day it arrived, since big items can take a week or two to ship.
Don't wait for the promotion to end. If the drop is part of a dated sale, submit while it's still running; Costco says later requests may be denied.
Mind the quantity limit. If the sale is limited to, say, two per member, you can only be adjusted on that many.
One order, one item at a time. Multi-item orders can be confusing. Submit with the specific item number that dropped.
Screenshot the lower price. A screenshot of the current price with the date helps if you need to follow up. Prices can change back quickly.
What if you're a reseller or a business member?
Costco's page says eligibility is limited to non-reseller members and products, and that resellers have separate conditions (for instance, buying during valid promotional dates). If that applies to you, read Costco's article directly rather than relying on this guide.
Is it worth the effort?
For a $5 drop on a $20 item, maybe not. For appliances, electronics and big-ticket items bought during a ramp-up to a sale, it can be real money. The tricky bit is noticing the drop in the first place, since nobody re-checks prices after checkout. You can set a calendar reminder 7, 14 and 28 days after each online order. Or let ShelfVerse do it: it syncs your Costco.com orders, labels them as online (so you don't ask the warehouse by mistake), and flags a price drop with the days left in your window.
ShelfVerse syncs your Costco.com orders and warehouse receipts, keeps the two channels separate, and flags a price drop with the days left in your 30-day window. Free on iOS and Android.

How long does a Costco.com price adjustment take?Costco says that once approved, credits are typically issued within 5 to 10 business days to the original form of payment.
Is the 30 days counted from purchase or delivery?Costco's wording refers to the date of purchase. For items with specific sale dates, the request must also be made within the promotional dates. To be safe, don't wait for delivery to ask.
