Costco Price Adjustment: How to Get the 30-Day Difference Back
Last updated November 1, 2026
If something you bought at Costco drops in price within 30 days, you can ask Costco for the difference.
Warehouse purchases are adjusted at Member Services; Costco.com orders use the online "Request a Price Match" form.
Most members never ask, because nobody tracks the prices after checkout.

This guide summarizes Costco's published Costco.com price-match rules and common warehouse practice. Costco can change its policy or decline a request at its discretion; check with Costco before you rely on it.

How the Costco 30-day price adjustment works
Costco prices move constantly: the monthly coupon book (instant savings) rotates roughly every four weeks, and items get marked down in between. When the price of something you already bought goes down within 30 days of your purchase date, Costco will generally refund the difference if you ask.
The clock starts on the purchase date, not the delivery date.
The lower price has to be real and current. For Costco.com orders, Costco requires the request to fall within both the promotion's dates and 30 days of purchase.
Promotional limits still apply. If a deal is limited to, say, two per member, you can only be adjusted on up to that quantity.
It's the same channel only. A warehouse purchase is compared against the warehouse price, and a Costco.com order against the Costco.com price.
How to claim a price adjustment in the warehouse
Spot the lower price: a new coupon book, a markdown tag, or an instant-savings sign on an item you bought in the last 30 days.
Note the item number from the shelf tag (it's on your receipt too).
Go to the Member Services counter with your membership card and ask for a price adjustment. Bringing the receipt makes it faster.
If approved, you get the difference back on the spot.
Costco doesn't publish separate written rules for warehouse adjustments, so the outcome is up to Member Services. Ask politely and expect a lookup of your purchase.
How to claim a price adjustment on Costco.com
Find your order number in your Costco.com order history and the item number of the product.
Submit while the lower price is still live on Costco.com and within 30 days of purchase.
Once approved, credits typically arrive within 5 to 10 business days on your original form of payment.
What doesn't qualify
Purchases older than 30 days.
Prices at other retailers. Costco does not price match other businesses.
Cross-channel requests: Costco does not adjust Costco.com orders to warehouse prices, and warehouse purchases are handled against warehouse prices.
Precious metals.
Quantities above a promotion's limit.
Let your phone watch the prices for you.
ShelfVerse syncs your Costco purchases, checks them against new prices and coupon books, and tells you which price adjustments you may be eligible for, and how many days you have left. Free on iOS and Android.
The most common trigger is a new coupon book: items you paid full price for a week or two earlier show up with instant savings. See the current Costco coupon book and its dates and compare its start date against your recent receipts. Big seasonal sales are the other one: anything you bought in the 30 days before a sale event is worth checking once the sale starts.
Costco price adjustment FAQ
How long do I have to request a Costco price adjustment?30 days from the purchase date. For Costco.com orders, Costco also requires the request to be made while the lower price or promotion is still active.
How do I get a price adjustment on a Costco.com order?Use the "Request a Price Match" form on Costco's customer service site, with your order number and the item number. Once approved, Costco says credits are typically issued within 5 to 10 business days to the original form of payment.
How do I get a price adjustment for something I bought in the warehouse?Go to the Member Services counter at a Costco warehouse with your membership card (your receipt helps) and ask for a price adjustment on the item that dropped in price. Costco does not publish separate warehouse rules, and Member Services can decline.
Can I get a warehouse price adjustment for an online order, or the other way round? No. Costco says it does not price match Costco warehouse prices for Costco.com purchases. Warehouse purchases are adjusted against warehouse prices, and online orders against Costco.com prices.
Does Costco price match other stores like Walmart or Target? No. Costco states that it does not price match with other businesses or retailers.
What doesn't qualify for a Costco price adjustment?Purchases older than 30 days, prices from other retailers, cross-channel requests (warehouse vs. Costco.com), and precious metals. Items with a promotional limit qualify only up to the limit quantity, and Costco can deny any request at its discretion.
Does the Costco coupon book count for price adjustments? The monthly coupon book is a set of instant savings. If an item you bought in the last 30 days shows up in a new book at a lower price, that is the most common reason members ask for an adjustment. Check the current book's start date against your receipts.
